Introduction to tasting Workshop

jan 1 to dec 31, 2024

The Château welcomes you in beautiful surroundings for a private workshop: introduction to tasting (private booking for you with your family or friends). From selected wines, the wine tasting enables to find the types of wine that suits you.

The Château de Champ-Renard welcomes you in a unique setting for a private beginners’ wine-tasting workshop (private function for just your friends and family). Focusing on wines selected based on their style, this tasting session will give you the opportunity to find out which wines suit you. You’ll start the session with a fun aroma recognition workshop then during a blind tasting (bottles with covered labels) of 6 wines with different characteristics (3 whites and 3 reds) you’ll analyse the wines using your senses. Based on your preferences, you’ll find the styles of wines that suit you. What’s enjoyable is discovering aromas, flavours and differences between several wines. Put aside your prejudices and learn to make your own mind up about the wine in your glass. A fun way to discover the wines that suit you best.

For this beginners’ tasting workshop, you’ll have the privilege of enjoying the exceptional setting of the private lounges of Château de Champ-Renard and spending time in the comfortable library, decorated with antique works. Learn the basics of wine-tasting by following the three stages of tasting: looking, smelling and… tasting. You’ll go through the following stages: describing the appearance and colour of the wine, describing the aromas of the wine you’re tasting, describing (a) the attack, (b) the mid-palate, and finally (c) the finish. Based on your preferences, you’ll get an idea of the styles of wines that suit you. For each wine tasted, the wine region, appellation, variety(-ies), vintage, aging potential, aromas and flavours characteristic of the appellation and recommended food-wine pairings will be described.

You’ll even leave with a complimentary silkscreen-printed glass of the Château.
