Château des Jacques

  • Romanèche-Thorins

You are invited to visit one of the most iconic wineries in the Crus Moulin-à-Vent, Morgon and Fleurie. Located on some of the best vineyards, the Château loves to share its unique history, its wine-making methods, show its 17th century cellars and pour a selection of its wines.

Born in 1924 from the winemaking-dream of Amédée Rousseau, a visionary French shirt manufacturer, Château des Jacques is an emblematic estate of Beaujolais.
The vineyards'property extend over some of the best terroirs of Moulin-à-Vent, Morgon and Fleurie as well as within an historic Chardonnay Clos.
Convinced that the Crus du Beaujolais belong to the world of great wines, the estate remains stubbornly faithful to its production methods in use before the “New” turn of Beaujolais in the 1950s: desteming, long macerations, and ageing in oak barrels. This style of vinification and ageing makes it possible to create wines that preserve both the vibrant fruit of the Gamay grape variety and its ageing potential.
In 1996 the Kopf family, owner of Maison Louis Jadot, acquired the estate. While maintaining the identity and autonomy of Château des Jacques, it invests in the vineyards and implements environmental practices geared towards organic farming. The winery was completely renovated in 2017.
