Château de Grandmont is a stone residence dating from 1780, set in 6300 m2 of wooded parkland amidst the Beaujolais vineyards. It was built on the ruins of the 12th-century chapel of the Prieuré de Grandmont in Beaujolais. To this day, only a few traces of the Priory remain...
The Catholic monastic Order of Grandmont was founded in 1076 and dissolved just before the French Revolution. The order followed the precepts of Etienne de Muret (canonized by Pope Clement III in 1189), based on obedience to God, a life of solitude, prayer and detachment from material possessions...
Today, Château de Grandmont is owned by a family with 3 children. It and its grounds were completely restored in 2003. An outdoor swimming pool surrounded by greenery was built in the park in 2011. Its decoration and comfort were improved in 2021 by the owners, in order to welcome you as Chambres d'Hôtes or Gîtes.
Sandrine and Franck have chosen to open the doors of Château de Grandmont and its park to you, to share a pleasant moment and life experiences. They will share with you: their swimming pool (in season, not heated), the pleasures of the park (chickens, bees) and the peace of the place. You'll enjoy home-made jams and honey from the property. They'll be happy to advise you on: visiting cellars, tasting wines with passionate winemakers, going hiking (on foot, by bike or running), eating out, visiting Beaujolais villages, the town of Villefranche or even the city of Lyon, which is only 30 minutes away. They're waiting for you!
Château de Grandmont is easily accessible, just 5km from the A6 freeway (exit 31.1). Surrounded by vineyards, it lies at the heart of the Beaujolais region and its 12 appellations. Ideal for sightseeing, relaxing or taking a break! Lyon, the City of Light, is only 30 minutes away by car.
Less than 3 km away, you'll find all amenities: mini-market, bakery, tobacconist, restaurant, bar, spa, doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, pharmacy, hairdresser... 7km to Villefranche sur Saône
