Step back in time to the history of Beaujolais, 180 million years ago!
Fossilea invites you on a true journey through time to discover the geological and paleontological heritage of Beaujolais. Come and enjoy a unique interactive experience.

In the heart of the UNESCO Global Geopark, discover Fossilea, a new-generation museum dedicated to the history of the Earth, life, and the landscapes that shape the Beaujolais region. Located in Saint-Jean-des-Vignes, in an exceptional natural setting, Fossilea invites visitors of all ages to experience a true immersion through 200 million years of geological, paleontological, and prehistoric history.

As you explore the different areas of the museum, discover minerals with astonishing colors, fossils, archaeological artifacts, and reconstructions of extinct marine creatures. Among the highlights of the visit, be amazed by the impressive reconstruction of an ichthyosaur, a marine predator that lived millions of years ago, or dive into the heart of the lost Jurassic oceans in the immersive exhibit.

The adventure continues outside in a 4-hectare landscaped park featuring attractions all along the trail (prehistoric camp, animal sculptures, geological panels, etc.), leading to the geological fault that testifies to the birth of the Alps.
