The attractions of the route
An overview of the heart of typical landscapes, where the steep wine-growing hillsides meet the edge of the Haut Beaujolais woods.
Essentials:
—A break at the belvedere of the Terrasse site facing the famous eponymous villages of the 10-Beaujolais crus. Beyond the vineyard, the panoramic view offers an unobstructed horizon up to the Alps.
- Two small additional kilometres to add by making the detour by the discovery trail. Along the way, signage describes the characteristics of the 10-Beaujolais crus, the geology and the terroir of the Chiroubles cru.
Notice to walkers ready to take up a 100-kilometre challenge: the circuit follows sections of the Sentier Victor, an itinerant hike lasting several days between carts of vines (local term designating the paths between the vines). On the program: forest paths, moors, pastures, panoramas and gourmet breaks.
When and how to take advantage of it?
From September to the end of October, to experience the two highlights of the vine which are the harvest and the variations of autumn colours.
By pushing the door of the Maison du cru Chiroubles to discover the subtleties of this altitude terroir cultivated on sloping and granite soils.
Every Wednesday in July and August, during the “Estivales de la Terrasse” (organised as part of the “Beaujolez-vous!” event): Beaujolais atmosphere guaranteed around barbecues, outdoor concerts under the starry sky, fireworks…
A walk to experience at the end of the day to admire the changing colours of the landscapes under the sunset.
