The attractions of the route
The Glay quarries, whose imposing working face stands like a raw fresco in homage to the work of the quarry workers and the thousand-year-old origins of golden stone.

The "Carrières de Glay et bois des Oncins" sensitive natural area, a fertile ground for flora such as orchids, but also a protected shelter for the 19 species of bats that nest in the rocks*.

The atmosphere varies from one kilometer to the next: the peaceful and timeless alleys of the hamlet of Glay, the harmonious landscapes between vineyards and golden stones, the beautiful panorama of the quarries facing the Azergues valley, the mountains of Tarare and Beaujolais...
The discovery of another facet of the Beaujolais vineyard which is located in the southern part of the appellation. Beyond L'Arbresle, it discreetly gives way to the AOC Coteaux du Lyonnais.

When and how to enjoy it?
Volunteer sculptors and blacksmiths create their works and answer questions from the public on Monday and Thursday afternoons as well as Saturday mornings (and on request for a group guided tour).

At the beginning of the summer by combining hiking and festivities, on the occasion of the Stone Festival which alternates on even years with the Night of the tale,
By stopping for a picnic at the quarries, halfway along the loop. A shorter version of the route exists in the form of a gourmet walk.
By following the small path, which allows you to climb to the top of the quarry front: bring good shoes because the terrain is steep and slippery in places.)
