69400 Villefranche-sur-Saône
Located on the great Burgundy road, Villefranche was a stopover town with up to twenty-two inns, the memory of which can still be seen in certain streets such as the Croix-Verte and the Faucon.
Its courtyard is a beautiful example of Louis XIV architecture. An open staircase leads to two storeys decorated in classical wrought iron. The motifs are very symmetrical – differing from the ironwork in the more Baroque stairways.
