Paul Dini Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Villefranche-sur-saône ( Musée de France Certification)
Located 30 minutes north of Lyon in Villefranche in the Rhône Department, the Paul Dini Municipal Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art with the "Musée de France" certification features two exhibition halls.
First of all, the museum houses the collection of Mr Paul Dini, an art collector and philanthropist from Rhône-Alpin. The collection includes works of visual art from the 19th to the 21st century that have a connection with the life or work in the region.
Dini's donation represents more than 600 works that retrace the history of the region's artistic life from pre-impressionism to the contemporary period.
The museum is divided into two exhibition venues, the Espace Grenette, a former "Halle aux grains" which retraces the history of painting in our region from 1865 to the present day, and the Espace Cornil, a former textile factory, devoted more to contemporary art. The museum distinguishes itself by its dynamism and its cultural attractions.
The Paul Dini Museum is also home to one of the forty art libraries in France. If you wish you can borrow original contemporary works such as prints, photographs, canvases, drawings, etc.
Upcoming exhibition: a summer in the museum's collection: "Nature et figure à l'espace Cornil" (Nature and features in the Cornil area).
