Typical village in the heart of Beaujolais des Pierres Dorées
Nestled in the southern Beaujolais region, 30 minutes from Lyon, Oingt is the only village in the Rhône Department to be designated as the " Most Beautiful Villages in France ".
The village of Oingt proudly overlooks the Azergues Valley and the surrounding mountains.
You can see the vineyard landscape from the top of the Donjon tower, with a 360° panorama that allows you to admire the Beaujolais and Lyonnais mountains. It is not uncommon on clear days to see the Jura, the massive Alpine as far as the Ventoux and Mont Blanc.
Walking around the village is a great way to immerse yourself in history thanks to the narrow streets with their evocative names. Fortress of the Middle Ages, the seigniory of Oingt is believed to be the oldest in the region.
Until the 19th century, houses were attached to each other by the same golden limestone rock used for building.
Guided tours of the St-Mathieu church, the mechanical music museum, artists' workshops, and numerous trailheads are just some of the attractions to help you discover this historical village.
Two major events are organized there every year: the international festival of the Barbary organs and Oingt en crèches, an event to be experienced by the whole family.
Oingt, located in the heart of the Pierres Dorées villages is a must-see stop on the wine route.
